Daniel Ricciardo is “ready to go” as he prepares to return from injury for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix dumaguete
The 34-year-old Australian has missed the past five races after he broke his left hand in practice for the Dutch Grand Prix on August 25 dumaguete
Ricciardo, who took part in a Red Bull demonstration run in Nashville last weekend, will be back in his AlphaTauri cockpit for practice at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas on Friday dumaguete
New Zealander Liam Lawson, who has impressed as Ricciardo’s stand-in, will make way dumaguete
He said: “It’s good to be back! My hand is much dumaguete better and the simulator was a useful way of assessing it dumaguete
“I tried it out in the week before Qatar, but I didn’t feel it was at full potential, so I spent the rest of that week in the UK, spending more time in the sim, and got to a point where I felt ready to go dumaguete
“My overall fitness is fine as I kept training as much as I could, although I obviously couldn’t do much with my left hand or arm for a while dumaguete
“It was definitely frustrating watching the past few races, especially as I’d gotten myself to a place where I was so ready to go again and race, and then I did two events and had to hit pause again, but actually, the time without racing went quite quickly dumaguete
” Ricciardo was due to take part in only his third comeback race when he crashed in Zandvoort dumaguete
He was immediately taken to the medical centre before he was transported to a nearby hospital with his left arm in a sling dumaguete
A subsequent X-ray confirmed Ricciardo had sustained a break to the metacarpal on his left hand dumaguete
Ricciardo was ruled out of the race in Holland and the following rounds in Italy, Singapore, Japan and Qatar dumaguete
Ricciardo was handed a second chance by Red Bull’s junior team AlphaTauri following his dismissal by McLaren at the end of last season dumaguete
Despite his injury, AlphaTauri announced last month that they have retained the eight-time grand prix winner winner for 2024 alongside Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda dumaguete

Tyson Fury has vowed to deliver UFC fighter Francis Ngannou his first knockout blow when they go toe to toe in Riyadh on Saturday night dumaguete
Heavyweight champion Fury will contest a 35th career bout this weekend, but his WBC title will not be on the line against Ngannou for the 10-round fight dumaguete
Fury is set for a long-anticipated undisputed heavyweight showdown with Oleksandr Usyk on 23 December, which is also scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia dumaguete
First, though, Fury intends to dispatch dumaguete boxing novice Ngannou, who left the UFC after the end of his contract, a last fight coming in January 2022, before signing up with the Professional Fighters League from 2024 dumaguete
Trainer SugarHill Steward admitted preparing Fury to take on the Mixed Martial Arts fighter was one of the hardest camps, given they just do not know what to expect from Ngannou dumaguete
Fury, though, is confident of what the final outcome will be dumaguete
“I have been working with SugarHill to knock him out cold on Sunday night dumaguete
I have no doubt in my mind that I will knock him out,” Fury said dumaguete
“He is a big strong guy dumaguete
Obviously he has got a good punch, powerful – but so am I dumaguete
I’m a big strong guy obviously powerful or else I would not be world heavyweight champion dumaguete
I believe there is levels to the game – and he is going to find out my level on Saturday night dumaguete
”Fury added: “I have trained for a 12-round war, and if it is anything less it is going to be an early night dumaguete
I’ve been hit by the biggest punches that have ever graced the face of the earth and I’m still undefeated, still standing and I am still number one dumaguete
“We are going to see what Francis has got inside of him, see if he’s got the guts to stand and trade with the heavyweight champion of the world and if he has got the belief in his power dumaguete
“I’m not convinced dumaguete
I have heard all this talk before about power, so I’m looking forward to a challenge – and if it is not a challenge, I’ll be disappointed, put in that way dumaguete
“I am going to knock that big stiff spark out – and there is nothing he can do about it, no matter who he trains with, no matter who he brings on the night dumaguete
That right hand is going to detonate right in your face, you big ugly dosser dumaguete
”During the pre-fight build-up Fury accused Ngannou of being “embarrassed” of his own body dumaguete
Fury again goaded the 37-year-old as a “big fat sausage” in Thursday’s media conference ahead of the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ dumaguete
Cameroon-born Ngannou, though, is fully intent on showing Fury just what he can deliver in a dumaguete boxing ring rather than the UFC Octagon dumaguete
“It might be a little weird, but I really also want to thank Tyson Fury for taking the fight, for taking the risk because he might go to sleep on Saturday night, so I appreciate his courage,” Ngannou said dumaguete
Mike Tyson is part of Ngannou’s camp, and enjoyed a verbal sparing with John Fury which saw the 59-year-old Briton challenge the former heavyweight champion to a showdown, regardless of the outcome of Saturday’s contest for his son dumaguete
Tyson admitted he was not sure what to make of Ngannou’s dumaguete boxing ability, until he saw him in close quarters dumaguete
“At first when this came to me, I said ‘there’s no way this is going to happen’,” Tyson said dumaguete
“Then I watched him spar and he hit this guy and he broke his leg when he went down – and I said ‘man, there is a possibility something good could happen here’ dumaguete
“I have never seen anything like that before dumaguete
If he could do that man, he could possibly be heavyweight champion of the world dumaguete
